Let me guess, you're British and a BBC Radio 3 or 4 listener? I only ask because in all my travels I've never met anyone else that had a great desire to record radio programmes. Three cheers for public service broadcasting! Anyway this isn't the solution you're looking for - but for anyone else that is interested, by far the easiest (and best quality) way to record from the radio is on your video recorder. A video recorder with "hi-fi" tracks will give better sound quality than any cassette (not difficult admittedly) or Mini-Disc. In fact when I did some tests a few years back some Panasonic video recorders measured significantly better than correctly aligned Revox 1/4inch tape machines running at 15 i.p.s.! Also, you get up to 8 hours recording time and you don't need an external timer. At home I don't have a TV, but my hi-fi stack sports a video recorder. This seems to puzzle some visitors. .
