My understanding on this is the Fed required that the internic deregulate the domain registration process and open it up to competition. I was under the impression that the 2 year and $35/per year stuff was based on Fed requirements or costs, but apparently that was just NetSols standard and not the Fed's. So now there are a number of registrars who will work on different terms and for lower costs. I'll have to check out the other registrars that you mentioned (its a lower priority for me now as I've already blown my money ) but the thing I really, really liked about register.com was that the web page interface (vice the email form interface that NetSol uses) is clear, quick and easy to use. Normal rate is US$70 for 2 years. Which leaves me with a question: I just re-registered through official channels a few days ago, how come it costs a renewal $35, when you can get it for $20 from a third party company?
