I'm slowly progressing, but lack of appropriate tools is hampering the
work. Has anyone got a fragment of code for a 16F84 that will work as
a variable digital storage for capturing unknown wave-forms? No CRO.

That's what the data sheet says, and it includes dead time between words
and between each transmission, but my draft code is seeing insufficient
dead time. So I want a way to look at the transmission in detail, hence
the request for a 16F84 signal capturing program. I can write it, but
if someone has one already then I may save some time.

If this is purely for digital signal levels, you may wish to think about using a PC paralllel port as a cheapo logic analyser. Check out http://www.xs4all.nl/~jwasys/diy2.html for details.
