When you can get an upgrade copy of QuickBooks Pro 2000 for $120 you want to write a program?? Did that once and almost acquired a raging case of terminal insanity. Seriously, look at any recent version of QBPro (NOT quicken) for features that any serious accounting package should have. Even I can run the thing without screwing up too badly. Quicken is good too--as far a simple interface goes, and does support a lot of personal stuff like tracking investments--but it doesn't have the job tracking, payroll and other goodies that sets QBPro above the rest.
