I may have been a triffle harsh and I do appologise for it.

I get so many requests for Protel and ORCAD hacks that it really does
start to annoy me...

IMHO, the best and least expensive alternative to Protel 99 is TraxMaker
by Microcode. Yes I know that Protel now owns Microcode BUT as an entry
level PCB cad package it is quite good.
