Thomas, Myke Predko (where is he, anyway??) has a pretty ingenious technique for accessing an Hitachi 44780-based LCD using only TWO pins. It does, however, require more real estate by requiring a 74LS174 shift register. You can take a look at the info on his page: http://www.myke.com/engres/lcd.htm and the source code for a PIC Micro is on this page: http://www.myke.com/PICMicro/2wirepic.asm I haven't had a chance to try out his design, but it looks like it is very helpful in reducing the number of pins required to control an LCD. Hope this helps, Michael Barker ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Thorsen" To: Sent: Tuesday, January 25, 2000 9:22 AM Subject: LCD with less I/O > Hi! > > How can you access a LCD with a 16c84 using as few i/o ports as possible. i > need as many ports for other things. > > Hopefully someone can help me! > > Yours sincerely > Thomas Thorsen > ______________________________________________________ > Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com >
