Boy, if the lack of a subject line was all I had to worry about, what a wonderful life it would be. I understand your feelings about this, but to me, a subject line isn't that important. What's important to me is content. Is the post something of interest to me either from the standpoint of can I use it somewhere in my own code or projects, or is it just so much fluff that we all could do without? I belong to three different SIG's and get about 120 to 150 emails a day. Probably one third or so don't have subject lines or useful content. But I read them anyway. I do this because the one I toss out without reading could very well be the one that has the answer in it that I have been looking for for a while. Sure, I get a lot of fluff too, but my take on it is that for every 5 fluff emails, I get 2 or 3 good useful pieces of information that I can use. To me, this is a very good tradeoff. I am satisfied with that yield. Obviously, some people aren't as easily satisfied. And I don't have a problem with that either. I just think there is too much pickiness on this (and my other) board(s). This SIG is a very useful resource, and the quality of people on it are second to none. What do you expect for free. You have to take the bad with the good. In each persons life, a little rain must fall. Bottom line from my perspective: I read ALL my emails, so a subject line missing from one is annoying, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Okay, I'm done. If anyone feels the need to chastise me or reprimand me for my soapbox display, so be it. me email address is jim@jpes.com. But no matter. I'll still feel the same way.
