Hello friends, I'm back from year end trip, carrying few extra lb. of to much food... who can resist? In Brazil I was requested to point a person that could represent this link between the old and new age, someone that could be a symbol, or a flag to our future. I was thinking to point a notorious public person, a president or a famous scientist, or a nobel figure, from peace and help to brightness and power I could choose anyone, it was a difficult task, but then I thought that the one to represent our new future is not from medicine or arts, not from literature or knowledge, not even a master of politics or religion, but some messager that could give us hope for a better future, someone that could make us dream and believe that the future could be better. Our civilization produced several possible "flags" to be followed, but I thought the main flag today is "hope". The chosen figure exist, but he's not real, instead he is a product of imagination, the same imagination that hopes for a better world. He is real in the minds of millions. Spreading his fingers in a "V" shape he uses to transmit a contagious energy around his figure, when Leonard Nimoy says in "Spock" words: "Live Long and Prosper". In between several things I will miss from the 20th Century, one will be Gene Roddenberry's StarTrek movies with William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei and Walter Koening opening a window to us, showing what could be our future. "Live Long and Prosper" is a strong message. To "live long" we should learn how to do it in peace, "war machines" just to fight diseases efficiently, feed the hungry and have a strong objective to go ahead. To "Live Prosper", we should search for knowledge and learn how to make our planet a better place for everyone. The "V" shape could be from "Vulcan", but it also can means the second millenium. Wagner
