Ooops, Sorry Quentin I got confused on something else. Of course a 500W laser is going to cost a little more. I was thinking about this specified item: Specifications are-Double beam units, twin gallium arsenide solid state laser diodes, a 9 watt and a 3 watt, 900nm wavelength (invisible infra red) 28vdc, 600hz pulse frequency. Inside each module is also a receiver to pick up the reflected beam from up to 5 miles away, an expensive looking beam splitter, optical assembly, precision motors and drive circuitry to move the laser and 4 control PCBs. The unit measures 100mm diameter and 670mm long with an 80mm objective lens. The actual lasers measure 60 x 40 mm, the optical assembly 150mm, the control section 230mm and the motor section 80mm. $500 USD Also retro reflector prisims: glass silvered then gold plated corner cube reflector (Trihedral prism) designed to always reflect light back to its source. (If you look at it from any angle you can only see your eye) The primary use for these devices is to reflect laser light back to its source. Perfect for making long range laser perimeter alarms etc. 40 mm diameter Available in a pack of 3 for $400 USD ----- Original Message ----- From: "Quentin" To: Sent: 07 January 2000 09:51 Subject: Re: [OT] high power LASER source. > Actually, what I am looking for is where I can learn more about cutting > lasers.
