Looking for a very tiny controller for an upcoming project... Preliminary there will be two versions of the end product I need very little for the simple version: ¤ very small case, (SO8 is absolutely max) ¤ Vcc 2,2 to 3,5V operating range ¤ Internal osc ¤ HALT mode with very low consumption (about 0,1µA@3V) ¤ 2 inputs: a) one with a leakage of max 2nA (or I need to buffer) b) the other with Wake-up from Halt on pin change/level, and i'd like internal pullup (or pulldown) ¤ 2 outputs, one 5 mA sink, the other 50mA sink, both @0,2Vdrop, 2,5Vsupply (I guess I will need a transistor buffer for at least the 50mA...) ¤ about 200 instructions ROM ¤ speed min 20 k instr per second. ¤ Ram or registers about 10bytes. ¤ Low power reset, and/or Watchdog Not required, but nice: Battery warning (multiple level) (could be external, then need one mor input), Timer, another timer with simple PWM, interrupts I would like a cost of less than $1US@1k, or at leaast at 10k For the more advanced i«d like: One more standard output pin (total 3), 500 instr, 15 Bytes RAM Battery warning (multiple level) (could be external, then need one mor input), Timer, another timer with simple PWM, interrupts, possible to use cheap small 32768Hz watch xtal for precise timing. Cost no more than $1,5@10k Good, but not needed: a few EEPROM locations The only one matching it all is the Fairchild ACE1101 controller (verylow halt power consumption, low voltage, 5 level batt detect, strong sink on one pin, MIWU, 2timers (one PWM), watchdog, interrupts, nice instruction set, tiny TSSOP8 casing, etc... :) ) I have only read the datasheet so far, but it looks very promising. It has it all, including 64byte EEPROM. Only problem is it have one too less I/O if running an Xtal... Other controllers i can think of: PIC508: too high HALT consumption, weak outputs, too leaking inputs, SO8 is smalest case, need ext batt multi level det, no reliable poweronreset, no 2,2 V operation? COP8/COP8SA Very lot of types Cheapest is very cheap, $0,62@1k? but weak and power hungry, some pheripherals missing, large case. Their new very tiny 28-pin 5mm square case is interesting, but chip is too power hungry and some other points missing. Other ideas? Has Zilog, Texas, ST, etc got something? A tiny 4-bitter? -Where to look? Or onebit serial soething? Bot maybe 4-bit etc designs are then made with elder technology, so they have too high standby consumption? Well, i can make a main switch and activation logic, but that take too much boad space and cost. (it was not supposed to be a contreller in this product in th efirst place...) And, sorry, I am not allowed to tell what it is for. Hmmm... Do somebody know of an Fairchild ACE discussion list?
