I haven't looked at LCD modules in too long here! Is this particular module set up with a 14-pin "header"? Or does it have a 2 x 7 hole grid that you'd need to solder to? (I'll assume that these are on 0.1" centers, if not, you'll want different part numbers. I've seen both, but it's been a while - IIRC 'most' have a header, too many seen of each ) If the former, a ribbon connector like Digikey's (page 21) part number M1AXA-1436J-ND, $ 2.22, would give you 36" long leads to solder to; Or you could get a dual header like part number M3AAA-1406J-ND, $ 1.62 (same page), and have 2 sockets with 3" wire off them. Either's surprisingly cheaper than buying ribbon cable and a single socket If the latter, practicing, to learn to solder better, is an eventual longer-term answer; in the short term, getting someone to solder a header on for you, and find you a ribbon cable connector, is easy enough. I order enough stuff and will be store shopping tomorrow, have a Mouser order piling up here, meant to order an LCD for myself anyways I probably can just find a "surplus" 14-pin connector at Vetco tomorrow (if someone else hasn't already offered you one.)
