> Happy New Year !!! Here in New Zealand we've had the first > Y2K midnight of a major population. The weather has broken > up (it stinks actually), but the water still comes out of the taps, > the phones are working, my PC seems to be OK, and obviously > the power's sti Happy New Millennium all. Australia is no more a disappointment! The fireworks was distributed among backyards (Many without licenses). The only emergency services that are rushed of their feet are the country and metropolitan fire services. Plenty of scrub fires, neighbors sheds burning down - as expected. Essential services such as Internet! are working. All merry here. I actually have my date working correctly. Sorry Jinx. As to date, the Australian (http://www.y2kaustralia.gov.au) Y2K Site shows no bugs. New Zealand (http://www.y2k.govt.nz) has one incident which is not Year 2000 related, a Morrinsville Water Plant lost power at 11:42pm due to suspected strong winds. Service restored at 11:59 with 1 minute to spare. At least the site is working. More importantly, I just checked my PIC's. They work. . . . No doubt minor problems will start occurring at start of trade/bussiness on Tuesday. Till then, it's holidays as normal. Still can't get the PIC to talk USB properly. . . Regards, Craig Peacock
