Sounds like, what, bad power supply connection, insufficient despiking,
something like that?

Is your Vcc nice and strong and reliable?

Enough despiking on there, close to the PIC's ground pin?

Can you do the standard "blink an LED" thing without problems?

(Behind on some things, these'll give you some things to think on /
check.)
