This apparently can't be done (or Jory doesn't want to do it). The argument against this that I have heard in the past is that this line always grows to include other items and consumes more bandwidth than the help request posts that result from it's not being there. Don't get me wrong, I feel that a link to www.piclist.com at the bottom of every post would just about stop this nonsense, but I think that a lot more people would have to ask for it, or something like it before it would happen. And even if it were done, your can rest assured that some epsilon minus would miss it and ask for help to the list. You would think that people posting to the PICList would try typing in www.piclist.com for instructions or searching for it. Many PICList FAQ pages exist. I'm working on an autoresponder that will look for messages that are likely to be requests for admin help and automatically respond not to the list but to the poster, with a "if you were looking for help, here it is" type message. BackOffice doesn't want to let me see the posters email address however, so the new open source email server at piclist.com is being tested for reliability and ease of modification. Notice that my, Jory's and Mark's posts can come from name@piclist.com now. If it works out, we may not have to respond to this ourselves in the future. Which may result in the following SNAFU: 1. poster asks for admin help on the main list. 2. someone responds (not knowing that the autoresponder has taken care of it). 3. 5 people and 2 admins respond to that telling the responder that he doesn't need to. 4. 20 people pile on the discussion with suggestions about how the PICList can be improved. This really can't be helped can it? I'm still going to try to improve it, however. I haven't seen list software yet that can't be made to do this as it's very common and a useful tool for everyone.
