I have the PICSTART 16B1 Microchip Programmer, Using MP16B.exe in DOS mode to connect to COM 1 and talk to the programmer. It worked good until I starting using another piece of equipment that used COM 2. Now the programmer will not work even though I have completely removed the equipment that uses COM2. I took the programmer and the program to another computer and it works fine. The error it displays is a timeout on accessing the port. I tried the programmer on both COM1 and COM2. I check the drivers and it is using serialui.dll and serial.vxd. The setup has the defaults (i.e 9600 baud). There is no conflicts shown in the system properties resources. I tried replacing the cable from COM1 on the motherboard to the serial connector. I though maybe a loose connection. I tried the new piece of equipment on COM 1 and it works. Does anyone know of other areas of the computer I can check for conflicts or settings. Thanks John
