Not even OT, I do this sometimes to look at PIC binary files.

We use Hex Workshop, from Breakpoint software, you can get a
free trial copy.   It not only views binaries any way you want, but
allows editing.

It even allows you to view (and Edit!) raw disk sectors.  Be scared of
that feature.
