Rectangular holes usually work fine unless there is some odd hardware involved, or unless the exposed bit of visible connector shell is an aesthetic problem. Any rectangular holes are usually easier to fabricate. Look for standard enclosures with the right holes already, too. I sell a product in a PacTec box that is molded to take the DA shell (9pin standard pitch), and they make similar cases for DB shells.
