I maintain a page on SRAM's (including serial SRAM) at: http://204.210.50.240/techref/default.asp?url=mem/srams.htm and on SPI memory (FLASH and SRAM) at http://204.210.50.240/techref/default.asp?url=mem/spi.htm http://www.ramtron.com has just released an 8K byte FRAM chip with a proprietary 2 wire interface and provide 2k byte memories in their 2-wire and SPI types. FRAM seems to be a great combination of FLASH non-volatility with RAM speed but - watch out for invalid writes on power fail see: http://www.iversoft.com/piclist/9708/1151.shtml http://www.okisemi.com "Serial voice register" series http://www.okisemi.com/communicator/public/fm/docs/SpeechTables-2.html 1 bit data registers: MSM6685 (8Mx1), MSM6389C (1Mx1). Internal address counter provides continuous data stream presetable in 1k blocks. I don't have any info on price or availability. Please let me know if this turns out to be a good option. I have been told that there are video frame buffer chips that can be used as serial ram but have not seen any evidence of this. I also think that it is just the sort of chip that would be invaluable in one of these new pocket sized DSO's or Digital O'Scopes or that HP thing that is midpoint between a logic probe and a logic analyzer. Has anyone the source for the chips used in these types of devices. Please add me to the list of people who are looking.
