In my head:

R=1Mohm, C=1µF (roughly)

Pin 8 & 4 to +
Pin 1 to -
Pin 6 to pin 2 and to cap pos side, neg to -
 From cap pos side also a resistor to pin 3

Output symmetric square on pin 3
Or pin 7; is open colector.

Or use an 8pin PIC with internal osc...
But the 555 is stronger driver and higher voltage.
