Could someone help me optimise this PSU for a PIC please. The circuit counts mains cycles and supplies a small motor with 9V for about 1/2 second (dumped from the 3300u), adjustable timing / transistor drive for this from a 4001 one-shot. Functionally it works OK, what I'd like to have rendered efficient and safe is the 250VAC to 9V/5V part, correcting especially any stresses that anyone can see in the components used. I can't detect any heating and voltages seem to be stable. It's the type of transformerless circuit I build once in a blue moon and I haven't a good reference for it, basically modifying the first one made some time ago. Any suggestions ?
