That depends on your defenition of easy. If you have more than one to crack, you can probably try a few of the more violent methods (applying a high vpp >14v and un-programming the code protect bit). The 16F84 is not really any easier to read than the other PICs, it's just that its use in the satellite TV industry prompted hackers to quickly break into it and modify settings for free channel access. The newer revisions have made it much harder to break, but no matter how much protection you add, another person can always break it. The real questions are: Is what I have valuable enough for a person to spend a large amount of money and time on to break rather than designing it themselves? Is it worth the extra cost to me to build in other systems which will prevent their access to the code?
