I just want to be SURE we are clear on this. I do NOT want to copy another persons firmware... I want to ENSURE that nobody else is using mine! When you produce a product that uses a PIC (or any other embedded micro), somebody can make counterfit circuits (knock-offs) just by using the same parts. They may need to spend some time figuring out how it works, but, they just xerox the circuit. THE ONLY thing they cannot just buy off the shelf is YOUR FIRMWARE. BUT! If they can copy it, and replicate it into other chips.... you're screwed! I prefer not to be in the later crowed... therefor, my alerts lit-up when somebody suggests there may be a back-door into the PICs. Does anybody know of one? Most important to ME... HOW DO WE CLOSE IT!? Thanks!
