I have the opportunity to find in France some VFD displays 1x16 for 3$. I
look for an interface chip  to manage this display. Which are the integrated
circuits most standard for this application and where can I find examples of
code?
Do exist chips compatible with the 44780 used for the LCD?

Help is welcome.
If you already encountered problems with the VFD, thank you to share them
(useless to reinvent the wheel!).
