Roberto,

If you're looking to control an oscillator with one byte
that gives you 256 possible combinations, but you
also say you want to go from 1 Hz to 1 Khz in 1 Hz steps.
This equates to 1000 steps or possible combinations.
This means you'll have to use two bytes.
