I was thinking about using the analog to digital converter on a PIC1671 to sample audio at a rate of 8,000 samples per second. I was going to use a clock frequency around 20 MHZ. The data sheet appears to show, however, that each sample takes a second or so to develop so this would rule out that converter. I just want to be sure I am not mistaken, however. I know that the A/D converter on a Motorola 68HC11 is a successive-approximation type that can take a sample in 15 or so usec which is plenty good for 8-KHZ audio samples. I would be using the 20-meg clock and not the RC internal oscillator for the A/D converter.
