The Hardware Book, at http://hwb.acc.umu.se/index.html, has many good
connector pinouts;  http://hwb.acc.umu.se/co_GameportPC.html is what you
want, pretty good reference IMO.  It's solidly bookmarked here.

The pots in the joystick are 100k IIRC;  the sliders of the 4 pots go to
pins 3, 6, 11, and 13;  You feed 5VDC & Ground to the joystick (on 4
pins & 3 respectively - Redundancy can be good <G>)  I forget how the
buttons go (Pullup in the joystick or not?  I forget) - I know the
buttons GROUND when pressed IIRC.  I have joysticks here, if you don't
have one yet, will meter the buttons out if you ask <G>  (Probably will
ask the HwB folks to add that info as a note, just a minor improvement
but good info!)
