Hi All: Just had a bit of a headache with MPLAB and my PicStart Plus not wanting to talk-- Took a while to remember the solution (all hail to Roger Marshall at Computer Applications Tommorrow who reminded me)--but it appears to be generic, and worth passing on to everyone else who might suffer the same intermittent problems: Seems there is an order that must be followed in bringing up the system: 1. unplug power to the picstart 2. unplug the RS232 connector to the picstart 3. bring up MPLAB 4. Plug power into the picstart and wait a few seconds 5. Plug the RS232 cable into the picstart 6. Initialize the picstart. Comes up 100% of the time when this order is followed. Change the order, and the startup success rate plummets to zero. Helps to have the latest UVEPROM installed too--version 2.01.00 according to my notes. Does anyone know if the changes from MPLAB 4.12 to 4.12.12 is worth the two hour download time? Kelly William K.
