It's a hoax. See http://www.datafellows.com/hoaxes/wobbhoax.htm and http://www.stiller.com/wobbler.htm for details. You seem offended that some people don't like virus warning posts. If you want to post virus warnings without pissing people off, here's a simple formula: 1. Do a quick web search to find out if it's a hoax BEFORE posting it to thousands of people and wasting everyone's time with it. 2. Don't begin your message by insulting people just because they advocate using a little diligence and consideration for other list members instead of spreading still more time-eating misinformation all over the Internet. You may not care whether it's a hoax, but many of us prefer not to go around wasting our time every time someone yells "the sky is falling". > Some people don't like to read posts about viruses, and I hope they are > lucky enough to not acquire one that will make them shut up for quite > some time. > > IBM and AOL are anouncing this new virus: > > Name: CALIFORNIA > Contamination: Internet Download > Targets: Hard Disk vital files + Web Browsers > Antivirus: Not developed yet > Power: More powerful than Melissa > Recomendation: Do not download files named "CALIFORNIA" > > An oax?
