I like the MAX232 from Maxim, for RS232, since it's pretty much self-contained. It generates its own + and - voltages, and has 15KV ESD protection. I haven't actually tested the ESD, but the specs look alright, and I've found Maxim to be reasonably honest about their spec sheets. > -----Original Message----- > From: Brent Crosby [SMTP:brent@CRYSTALFONTZ.COM] > Sent: Monday, October 18, 1999 11:22 AM > To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU > Subject: [OT] RS232, RS485 and RS422 transceivers > > I am selecting transceiver parts for a design that will support RS232, > RS485, and RS422. > > Anyone have favorite parts or parts they hate? > > Is there a single part that will do all three? > > Any input on the new ESD protection that manufacturers are building > into the parts? > > To help the signal-to-noise ratio, please reply off list to > brent@crystalfontz.com > > Thank you in advance for your help. > > > Sincerely, > Brent A.
