I'm aware of inverse square, but that's power.
At my home, a mile away from the tower, I can rectify over a volt from the
AM broadcast with a 1M antenna. The cellphone comes nowhere close.

Again, it's got nothing to do with safety, and everything to to with junk
science, and maybe bad shielding in the billing computers.
