Myke Predko posted a set of Macros that will do all you said. They check for timing and won't do 9600 with a 4 mHz crystal, but they do work well for slower cases. Just state your oscillator, desired baud, call the routines. Check the archive and I'm sure you'll find them. It was within the last couple of months.
