In 1959 when we had real copper conductors, real components, and a
smoldering hot barrel soldering iron with about a 3/8" tip to suit
glueing these items together, I caught the iron by the barrel before it
hit the floor, but I had trouble understanding what the smell was.

About 3 seconds later, my brain kicked in.
