Hi Jim, As far as I remember, the NCR-OCIA differs from other OCIA standards used in POS systems, like the ones from SNI (Siemens Nixdorf), which created their own data format. NCR is using both 8 bit and 9 bit data formats. The interface is based on a current loop principle with Optocouplers on both sending and receiving ends. The data format is serial. Hope this helps.
