Well, because if you follow the spec you can have a greater level of confidence that it will work even in the situations you didn't specifically test. As other people have mentioned, there are PCs out there which don't accept 0-5v comm. I was just wondering if you could with little extra effort make it meet the voltage specs. However, I wasn't criticizing. I appreciate your solution, and appreciate your sharing it with me.
