If possible could you please post the message at the end of this message to the PICList for me. The size difference is related to the packaging method. The disk installs (both the 7 speerate files and the 1 file - just a zip of the 7 files) are made with Wise and thus are compressed by Wise (I think it's some form of zip based compression but perhaps optimized (7Mb-25Mb is pretty goood for zip)). So when you download the single file you are actually downloading a zip of 7 zips (the 7 disks). The wise installer then extracts the 7 disks to a temp directory and then accesses that uncompressed data. The web install (created automatically by wise I gather) is basically the frontend of the normal install but rather than reffering to the temporarily extracted files it refers to files straight from the web. Thus, if you were to check c:\temp\Some Temp Dir\ after running the disk based install, you should fine about 25Mb of files. If you want to install the whole package get the disk based install. However, if you only want part of MPLab the web install might be better as it will download less superfluous files. Also, remember that the web install will not actually download all 25Mb of data even if you choose to install everything due to compression. I doubt the software/hardware compression will ever approach the compression level of the wise files but it should have a fair effect. Tom. I use Outlook Express to do my mail and until last week everything was fine. I could send and recieve perfectly. However now every message I post simply results in the following message appearing in my inbox: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to mitvma.mit.edu.: >>> HELO sam.comms.unsw.EDU.AU. <<< 501 Syntax Error. Unexpected end of Domain Name 554 ... Service unavailable I still have no problems recieving (at least I gather so, I get a minimum of about 100 mails a day so I can't be missing that many). Has anyone encountered a similar problem? Thanks in advance, Tom.
