In the Minneapolis area lots of lights now have LEDs for the red light and orange LEDs for the "Don't Walk" light. I have seen only two intersections with all three colors in LEDs. One town has white LEDs for the "walk" sign in addition to the red "Stop" and orange "Don't Walk" signs. I suspect that the REDs are much cheaper than the other colors, and thus, are used more. I also suspect that the highway departments are currently evaluating the maintenance costs saved by the LEDs and trying to determine if they are worth what they cost.
