The web install for MPLAB downloads a small (relatively --256K) program that,
when executed on your machine while connected to the web, just downloads those
portions of MPLAB that you select.  This is usually the preferred way to
download
MPLAB, and will be much quicker than downloading the full 7 disks.  The files
are
transferred in a compacted state and expanded on your local machine in the
MPLAB
install directory.

You can execute the same downloaded file (WEB412.EXE) later if you want to get
other components of MPLAB.  The installation is smart enough to see that you've
already got some files from the current MPLAB version.
