Hi Hamish You'll find a source of ferrite cores for many of your projects at www.acm.components.philips.com They have a lot of types, and I hope you find one that match with you necessity. I suggest you the application note for Electronic Lamp Ballast, at Motorola. Search for the AN153 (Electronic Lamp Ballast Design). It explains most of design especifications, with electronic FPC also. Good luck with your project. Eduardo. Part of a PIC based project that I am making needs to power a 230V 4W fluorescent tube from 12Vdc. Need something like: Vin 12V Vout 300V Turns ratio ~25 Frequency 10-30kHz Current 300mA low V side. Alternatively, if anyone knows of a source for relatively cheap ballast kits, that would be great. Thanks Hamish
