Well Jeff Bachiachi (sp) from Circuit Cellar INK did an article a while ago
using a tone dialer as a bidirectional data interface. He used shift codes
to indicate the proper characters. It was extremely slow, but it did do the
job and only required a touch-tone transceiver (and the requisite part 68
telephone interface) in order to do the job.

Very low? You can dumpter dive for anything slower than 28.8.
