Not to look a gift GPS receiver in the mouth, but
I think this is the same Trimble unit we were using
(Placer 550)? at last contract.

We had great huge amounts of pain with them and finally
replaced them.

The pain mostly took the form of them giving off bogus
locations at fairly frequent intervals.  Apparently it's
just a crummy receiver - for example, we'd routinely put
a trimble unit next to a Garmond and the Garmond would pick up
8 satellites and the Trimble 3.
