It would be > interesting to do a range of sine waves at the > different rates to see if people > can tell a difference. > > -Adam hola all, well to answer youre question about "noise" when i built my studio box, noise was a big concern, especially from using a LCD screen, they are noisy little buggers, so as i put the parts together, i used the shielding off of old video cables from monitors and hoped to avoid ever finding out if there was noise inducted on the sound card.... in the past, i had heard clock signals, through the sound, and didnt want a repeat on a studio setup the card is manufactured, with ground layers sandwiched between the other layers. no real exotic shielding....however i make use of some shielding, (i used a box from the crt video board, of a old monitor) to isolate the inverter, and also the touchscreen-to-serial board) also the backplane is grounded to the hilt. bit-rate affects "studio quality" sound engineering and not much else...when you spend all kinds of money, to hear a pin drop....IE> bi-amped studio monitors, korg keyboard, and a digital mixing deck you will notice a slight difference...richer sounds now, you are right in assuming that the difference between 44.1 and 96khz is more noticable. now for mp3 ripping and listening...it is sub-CD so, it would not make a difference what it is playing through. desade _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
