Only indirectly pic related, but I bet plenty of people out there have the first version of Win 95 on their PIC programming machines. When you upgrade to a faster pentium, expect to have to get Win 95 OSR #2 or Win 98 etc. Just upgraded to an AMD K6-2 450, and at a setting 350 MHz or above, windows breaks on boot with a windows protection error. Similar to the older pic programming software, it has timing loops when it's checking things on boot that break. Windows IS the speed limiter, like some of the windows=slow jokes say. Works fine once it makes it into win, and if I wiggle the mouse like crazy, (seems to be looking for the mouse when it fails) I can make it in about 1 in 5 times.. There's a patch for service release 2, but they apparently aren't supporting the older version. Might be this and not really a hardware problem for his 300A at faster settings. Try a dos disk instead.. Peter Tiang wrote: > > > > > > My 300A only goes to 375 (with 2.4V, peltier, 80mm fan etc). Anyone want > > to start an overclocking guide for PICs?
