Try feeding the voltage output of a DAC into a Power op-amp. Lots of good ones out there that can handle tens of amps at tens of volts. Works great for me. If you feed the power op amp with bipolar supplies you can get a positive and negative going supply. Great for driving Peltier coolers for precise temperature control, etc. Not to mention destructively testing things.
