Bob, I've got to stand up for Norton's AntiVirus. Consider the resources
that they (and McAfee) pour into virus research and their response time.
You can easily configure AntiVirus to do what you want. In my case, I only
allow it to automatically scan files downloaded from the internet. Other
than that, it does not run in the background and does not do a virus scan
on my drives or memory unless I tell it to.
