It will "work", and as long as your VCC has very low impedance to the microprocessor ground at Fosc, and Fosc*2, *3, *5.. then you won't have a lot of EMI problems. Of course to accomplish this, you'll need a cap on a short direct track from uP VCC to uP GND, and you're right back where you were in the first place. Otherwise, those HF signals will travel all through your system to get back to the uP ground, and it will radiate like a trucker's CB.
