How much flash do you need? And how are you using it? If you really need the PCMCIA interface and transportability, then you're stuck with a full card. If you just need the storage, take a chip out of a card. I took apart a 32MB card to see what was going on inside, and it's just a controller to talk to the card slot, and four 8 megabyte chips, and they're relatively easy to deal with directly since they have a sector buffer etc and look similar to a small hard drive. Great for data logging without the hassle of full PCMCIA, as long as you don't need to plug the card into a PC later..
