I have a question for the list: should we encourage Scenix to package the SX48 in DIP for development purposes? Their plan so far is for fine pitch SMT only. Is this a significant barrier? The parts have five 8 bit ports, 4k (12 bit) words flash and 256 registers. 48 pin DIPs are painfully large, but I'd like to see it in a PLCC (either 44 pin PLCC missing a couple pins, or 52pin PLCC with some unused pins.) The 0.05 inch pitch is sufficiently usable (and socketable) for development use, I think. Also, IIRC, one of the few existing 52pin PLCCs is a 6811 variant that the scenix might enjoy competing with... BillW
