The original X10 patent expired in Dec. '97, X10 is now an open standard. A few details: X10 uses a 1ms 120kHz burst at the zero crossing point of the 50/60Hz line voltage. Basic message is 13 bits, to messages are used to turn on or off a device. Extended packets can contain up to 20 bits, and contain custom data for your devices. DK
