Hi Nathan, I just thought I'd put in a few comments: The PICStart Plus is an excellent tool. If you buy one, try to make sure you get it by going to the Microchip seminars (which are going on right now) and save $50 and pick one up at the seminar. I've been doing a series of weekly articles at http://www.rentron.com with the last three weeks being an introduction to creating PICMicro applications. Along with the articles, I've included the design for an inexpensive parallel port programmer that I call the "ELCheapo"). The YAP (the programmer presented in "Programming and Customizing the PIC Microcontroller") is available from Wirz Electronics http://www.wirz.com assembled and tested with all the parts available to work through the "Experiments" chapter. Quite a few of them have been sold so far and the feedback and comments has been very positive about the kit being easy to use and get applications built and programmed on. You can find out more about "Programming and Customizing the PIC Microcontroller" at: http://www.myke.com/My_Books/pacpmcu.htm. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, myke -----Original Message----- From: Nathan Bean To: PICLIST@MITVMA.MIT.EDU Date: Wednesday, May 26, 1999 5:21 PM Subject: Getting Started >I'd like to get started in PIC microcontrollers.
