First of all, I would like to thank everyone who responded to my question regarding EL backlighting. It was very illuminating . I thought I would share with everyone what I discovered and what I decided to do. First, EL backlighting is expensive. One estimate was $200 setup charge and $.60 per square inch. The company I contacted was Auroralites ( www.auroralites.com ). I also emailed three other EL vendors with no response. They do make nightlites with this EL backlighting. My kids have ( well, had ) one. I tore it apart when I started this quest. I found a web link (www.amhot.com). The units are $12 each. The size of the back light ( on the one I have ) is roughly 1 7/8 x 2 1/2. Light is lime green and has a blue filter to make the light blue. Runs directly off of 115 VAC @ 60Hz. svskits.com/electro.htm has surplus EL backlights. the light is white but could be filtered for other colors. 2 1/2" x 10" is $5 and 4 1/2" x 10" is $9. I decided to try and make my own lighted panels with plexiglass and blue LEDs. Although I do plan to buy a few of the panels from svskits, since the panels are surplus, they won't be available if I need to replace or add to my system in later years. Once again, thanks to everyone who responded. Eric
